Bio

Kalene Thomas is the assistant director and academic advisor for the MEM Program at NC State University. She joined in fall 2023. As the academic and career advisor, Thomas helps students plan their paths through the MEM program to fit their post-graduation needs. Additionally, she is thrilled to be back at NC State, where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in industrial engineering. Passionate about engineering education, Thomas is now ready to start a Ph.D. program to research it. Meanwhile, she attentively connects her advisees to many wonderful opportunities on and off campus. Furthermore, she also teaches first-year engineering courses. In her free time, she grants wishes with Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina and fosters rescue kittens.
