Russell King is the Henry L. Foscue Distinguished Professor and the director of Graduate Programs in the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at NC State University. He holds the titles of Alumni Distinguished Graduate Professor and Alumni Distinguished Undergraduate Professor. Additionally, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers. Over the years, he has consulted for companies like Ford Motors, The Gap, Dillards Department Stores and the Institute for Defense and Business. Moreover, he has earned many awards for teaching, advising, and research, including the Albert G. Holzman Distinguished Educator Award and the Technical Innovation in Industrial Engineering Award from IISE.
Previously, he directed CAMAL and Graduate Programs for the ISE Department. Before joining NC State, he worked as a Systems Analyst for Dynamac Corporation in Rockville, Maryland, and as an Industrial Engineer at the Fleet Readiness Center Southeast at Jacksonville Naval Air Station. He earned his B.S. in Systems Engineering, M.E., and Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Florida. Outside of work, both he and his daughter have achieved the rank of Master in Taekwondo under Grand Master K.S. Lee of Morrisville, NC.
