Elif Oker, MD, is the Chief Clinical Officer and Head of Health Systems at Carelon Digital Platforms, part of Elevance Health. Elevance Health, formerly Anthem, Inc., is an innovation leader dedicated to advancing health beyond healthcare.
Oker leads health systems strategic partnerships and manages the product portfolio. These include technologies that create affordable, accessible healthcare for everyone. At the start of the COVID pandemic, she began a clinical strategy to integrate COVID-specific care solutions with Elevance Health’s products.
Subsequently, the team commercialized direct-to-consumer virtual care. They also executed a joint venture to bring virtual care to millions of Americans. Before Elevance Health, Oker served in executive roles at a health payor organization and healthcare startups.
Additionally, she began her career as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine at the University of Illinois (UI Health). There, she delivered healthcare, authored peer-reviewed publications, and taught residents. She also served in various medical center leadership roles.
Outside of Elevance Health, Oker serves as a mentor at Chicago’s MATTER healthcare incubator. Furthermore, she is on the advisory board of the University of Michigan’s Weil Institute and a member of the Economic Club of Chicago.
She graduated from the University of Michigan’s combined undergraduate-medical school program (Inteflex). Oker is also a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians (FACEP) and a Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
