Brandon McConnell

Director of Graduate Program and Certificate Program

Brandon McConnell serves as the MEM Director of Graduate Program and Certificate Program and a research assistant professor in the Edward P. Fitts Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. Following his service as an infantry officer in the US Army, McConnell transitioned to leading the Military Operations Research Group. This group comprises Operations Research and ISE students who share a keen interest in tackling military and national security challenges. In addition to his academic roles, McConnell actively mentors and advises both active-duty and veteran students from OR and ISE. Interestingly, he also admits to having a chronic surfing addiction.

Research Interests

McConnell’s research interests span a wide range, including military operations research and expeditionary logistics with a focus on risk management. He also delves into inventory control, production applications, healthcare systems, and national security. A core aspect of his research involves making decisions amidst uncertainty and effectively managing risks. Currently, he is deeply engrossed in exploring nonstationary queuing theory, scheduling techniques, and forecasting methods to enhance capacity planning and performance analysis in expeditionary logistics networks that face inherent risks.
