Shu-Cherng Fang holds many prestigious titles. He is the University Chair Professor at Tsinghua University in Beijing and the Honorary University Professor at Northeast University in Shenyang. Additionally, he is the Honorary University Professor at Shanghai University and Fudan University, and the Graduate University Advisory Professor at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Beijing. He is also the Honorary University Chair Professor at the National Chiao Tung University and the Honorary IEEM Chair Professor at the National Tsinghua University in Taiwan.
Before joining NC State, Fang was a Senior Member of Research Staff at Western Electric Engineering Research Center. He also worked as a Supervisor at AT&T Bell Labs and was a Department Manager at AT&T Technologies.
Fang has published over 200 refereed journal articles. He authored books such as “Linear Optimization and Extensions: Theory and Algorithms” and “Entropy Optimization and Mathematical Programming.” Moreover, he wrote “Linear Conic Optimization.”
He serves on the editorial boards of several scientific journals, including Optimization and the Journal of Global Optimization. He also contributes to the Journal of Management and Industrial Optimization and the Annals of Data Science. Furthermore, he serves on the boards of the Systems Engineering – Theory and Practice and the Journal of Systems Science and Information. Additionally, he is involved with the Journal of Operations and Logistics and the International Journal of Decision Support Systems. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Fuzzy Optimization and Decision Making.

Shu-Cherng Fang’s research interest include linear and nonlinear programming, fuzzy optimization and decision making, soft computing and heuristic methods, logistics and supply chain management, telecommunication networks and L1 splines.
